The Importation Guide for Stand-Alone Solar Systems in Cameroon was developed in collaboration with the Association of Off-Grid Electrification Professionals of Cameroon (APELCA), the Government of Cameroon, through the Directorate General of Customs, and the Power Africa West Africa Energy Program (WAEP).
This publication builds on the Cameroon government’s decision to adopt the 2024 Finance Law, which introduced import taxes and customs duties on a broader range of renewable energy equipment and products to stimulate investment. The guide outlines the importation process, clarifies stakeholders’ roles, and lists products eligible for import duty and tax waivers. It also details the regulatory framework for importing solar equipment and appliances into Cameroon.
The Second Edition of the Customs Handbook for Solar PV Products in Zambia was developed in collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ), and in particular the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Finance, and the Solar Industry Association of Zambia (SIAZ); and supported by GOGLA. The Customs Handbook is one of the avenues that the Government will use to clarify importation processes and reduce areas of misinterpretation by stakeholders.
To help accelerate access to off-grid technologies, GOGLA, with valuable inputs and support from leading development partners, has developed two guides which propose specific actions that governments and development partners can take to accelerate energy access and scale the productive use of renewable energy (PURE).
Providing Energy Access through Off-Grid Solar: Handbook for Governments was developed by GOGLA in collaboration with the African Development Bank, International Finance Corporation, Power Africa, Sustainable Energy for All and the World Bank. It reflects the shared views of these organisations.
Scaling Productive Uses of Renewable Energy (PURE): Handbook for Governments & Development Partners was developed by GOGLA, with the financial support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU), through the international initiative Water and Energy for Food (WE4F).
