Africa Food Systems Forum 2026

1 September 2026
to 4 September 2026
Kigali,
Rwanda

The Africa Food Systems Forum is the world's premier forum for African agriculture and food systems, convening stakeholders from across the continent and beyond to drive practical action on food systems transformation. The 2026 summit theme is Investing in Africa's Agri-Food Systems: Nourishing Nations, Growing Jobs, Building Resilience.

Agri-Energy Coalition

Launched at the 2025 Africa Food Systems Forum in Dakar, the Agri-Energy Coalition is a global alliance of partners working across energy, water, agriculture, nutrition, climate and finance, created to unlock the potential of agri-food systems with clean energy. Over 500 million people in Africa lack electricity, most of them in rural areas, while smallholder farmers produce up to 80% of the food supply in sub-Saharan Africa. The people growing most of Africa's food are the same people without reliable power.

GOGLA's role at AFSF

At AFSF, GOGLA is a co-driver of the Agri-Energy Coalition, making the case that off-grid solar and DRE solutions can meet energy demand faster and at lower cost while boosting productive uses of electricity across agriculture, food systems, cold chain, health and education. The benefits of off-grid solar are often known only inside Energy Ministries and electrification programmes, not in the agriculture/food systems world. Widening that audience is the reason for being at the forum.

More information about GOGLA's schedule will be on this page soon.
